38,000 miles later
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 20, 2012I purchased my Ultra in March of 09, after riding a Sportser 04 for 16,000 miles than a 06 Classic Super Glide for 36,000 miles. I could not wait to get the all new 09. My friends bought theirs earlier and did rave about it so I took the plunge and I am so glad I did it is so superior to the 06 ... better handling, ride everything you want is there. Rode to Mrytle 3X around Fla to Daytona, Keys, Orlando and this last year was in Sturge's
having no trouble with anything those Black Hills could throw at me. I've change tires once and keep up with the maintance. One great Bike and should have no problem with the next 38,000 miles.

Love it
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 24, 2010This past spring I decided to buy an 09 Ultra Classic. I have a 09 CVO Fat Bob that Is a Great motorcycle, it's just not a touring bike. I have some back problems and just can't road trip on the Fat Bob. We flew from KS to WI to pick up Harley Excec trade in that had 3500 miles on it. I'd never ... raod an Ultra, we loaded it down, both got on and hit the Milwakee drive at 5. At first it felt top heavy esp fully loaded. Afternoon of riding I got used to it and the feel. When you unload it and ride, wow it feels light. Even fully loaded it corners and handles very well. We turned a 800 mile trip on the way home into a 1400 mile trip heading down into Arkansas. Over the 4th of July we had ten days to spare, we rode from Ks to Myrtle Beach SC. Took the south root there and up to NC,Blue Ridge Pkwy west of Ashvill NC. Ended up riding 2800 miles that trip. We were home for two weeks and were going to ride to CO. I had twelve days to spare.. We ended up riding to CA via Albuquerque NM and the to Malibu CA. Then up the PCH to SF CA then to Lake Tahoe. Got on 50 and road to I-70 through UT,CO and back home. In twelve days we road 3986 miles. All I can sa is this motorcycle is a true pleasure to ride and tour on. It corners very nicely even when loaded down even if hitting some pretty good bumps on the road way, has enough power to pass and ran great in the mountains. I've put 1300 miles on my CVO Fat Bob in the year I've riden it. I've put over 8000 miles on my Ultra Classic in the four and a half months I've owned it. For me I can't justify owning both, So the CVO is for sale. The Ultra Classic for me is a Great motorcycle, I'm 6'4" 230 lbs and as I said I have back problems. I added Vance and Hines Slip ons, a driver back rest, GPS, and a lighted rack on the trunk. I never thought I'd be able to ride coast to coast, This Motorcycle enabled me to do it, I Love this Bike!!! A friend of mine ownes one as well, he said "I thought these bikes were for old guys.. wish I'd started riding one years ago" He's so right!!

Outstanding Ride
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 03, 2010I purchased my 2009 Ultra Classic over a year ago and it is a unbelieveable road bike and handles better than any Ultra I have owned previously. In my opinion your motorcycle is only as good as your dealer and that is why I do business at Knoxville Harley Davidson on Lovell Road. The service department ... and parts department are the best and the slaes staff are very knowledgeable. This dealership is the best I have seen and I travel all over the United States.

What a bike.....
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 13, 2010I bought my first Harley last summer and put 9000 miles on it in one season. I have been riding bike for 30 years and never have I been addicted. I considered buying a Wing but the sewing machine engine didn't do anything for me.
I live in the North so I had to put it away for the winter ... and it is driving me nuts. My wife also loves the seats for riding and the intercom. She road with me at least 7000 of the 9000 miles I put on last year.
She loves it so much we bought her a starter bike to learn how to ride. I am so proud of her.
I am an engineer and Harley Davidson can be proud of this bike. The fit, form, function, handling and overall quality of this exceptional. I am planning some long rides this summer and I can't wait.

By (I am an Owner) on Dec 29, 2009Now 40 I have ridden HD's since I was 19 Sporsters, Heritage Softail, Heritage Springer Softail, and a couple of old bar hopping Shovel's along the way. I Put 100K on my first Heritage and then put 55K on the Heritage Springer. My friend all said I was to young at 40 to buy a Geezzer Glide. But I ... didn't listen and bought a 2009 Ultra Classic I should have done this years ago!!! Wow what a Motorcycle. Yea its a Harley Mini Van so what it's got it ALL! My wife who owns her own bike now rides with me again. Not to sure if this is a pro or con? Over all the best Harley I have owned to date.....

Thumbs up in 2009
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 02, 2009Wife and I purchased the Ultra Classic in June of 09. We chose not to have ABS but went for security with siren. Besides adding some eye candy chrome and the oil cooler - we left it pretty stock for break-in. This is my 5th HD and I have to say I was impressed. Like all my past Harleys, the price ... is up there and you pay dearly for the pleasure of riding a Harley Davidson. The handling was great and stock performance met my expectations. Now that we have racked up 1800 miles and winter is upon us, it's time for some upgrades. My first upgrade the Stage I with the SE A/C, Tuner, and V&H Big Shot Duals. Can't wait to see how this affects the performance.

awesome
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 09, 2009I have been riding for over 30 years, and am on my third H-D, after two hondas and a Suzuki. The first was an 01 lowrider, the second an 05 Electra Glide classic, and the latest an 09 Ultra. The improvements from the 05 to the 09 are amazing. My 09 handles like it has power steering at slow speed ... turns, the heat issues i had with the 05 are gone, and the extra goodies like cruise, intercom, lowers, and rider back rest are great.
To Tim and the other reviewer who talked about vibrations, i suggest changing the pipes and a stage one kit for the air cleaner. I had this done before taking my Ultra home and havent had any complaints from my wife or myself, even after 740 miles in two days. We purchased our Ultra Oct. 28 of 08 and now have over 8000 miles on it and look forward to many more.

2009 ultra classic
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 27, 2009Brought a 2009 Ultra Classic 18th July 2009 in Australia for a start roads in this country are nothing like the smooth roads in America, I find the ultra the smoothest bike I have ever riden & one of the easist to handle especially in tight corners, its in the middle of winter here & I find it to ... have great wind protection 244cc more than my old harley & its got plenty of power for touring, harley davidsons defenately got it right this time, one very happy owner.

YEP ITS SMOOTH
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 25, 2009I sold my 2007 Electra Glide classic and bought the redesigned 2009 Ultra. I was happy before but can tell you the 09 is about 20% smoother. I wish it had a reverse and got better gas mileage! Really needs a reverse!

deuce to ultra
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 06, 2009I've been riding a 2007 Softail Deuce for over a year now. I decided to keep the Deuce to run around town and to the beach, however long trips kill my rear.
I just purchased a 2009 Ultra Classic and after getting used to the weight, it can't be beat. Just got back from a 750 mile trip this ... July 4th and feeling no pain. Didn't know if I would like a windshield, but it's night and day compared to the Deuce. When it's chilly I can get away with a long sleeve T-shirt. Power, comfort and looks are the best. My son traded his '99 Elect-Glide Standard for an '09 Street Glide and is real happy with the switch. The storage with the hard bags and Tour Pak are great, I'm prepared for any type of weather. I couldn't be happier. Way to go Harley!

Vibration
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 25, 2009Bought an 09 ultra last sept (my third Harley)
Shortly after purchase a vibration started in my foot boards.I find this really annoying but it is much worse on the back .After 40 km my wifes feet are numb and swollen ,even the tour pac vibrates and her back gets sore.
Harley has made ... a couple of attempts to fix this and are now suggesting a stage 1 upgrade , They have not yet confirmed who will be paying fot this

Perfect
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 08, 2009I sold my Willie G wide glide and just purchased a 09 Ultra Classic. I had reservations, the thought of owning a geezer glide creeped me out. I looked hard at the street glide and ultra for months and landed on the Ultra. The Ultra offer more for the dollar and I cn always get a quick release for ... the tour pack and bam, street glide clone. I will say that this is a heavy bike and the center of gravity is higher than my old lowered wide glide but the bike rides like a dream. The Harley Engineers did this right. The only comment I can make is the 5th gear whine but I can live with that. If you have the means to own one of these I strongly state that you will not be dissapointed.
Ride on.

Bought an 09 Ultra two weeks ago love it but it pulls to the right, anyone else having that problem?
By (I am an Owner) on May 21, 2009Bought an 09 ultra a few weeks ago and it pulls to the left. I have taken it in to two different shops and the techs say they feel it pull but it is within specs. Has anyone else had any problems with their ultra pulling?

Setting the Standard
By (I am an Owner) on May 02, 2009I picked up my 09 FLHTCU in November and have been riding it off and on through the Missouri winter. 3200 miles later this is the best touring bike I have had bar none. The modifications that were made really tightened up the suspension and rerouting the exhaust reduced the heat the passenger had ... to deal with. All in all, this is one enjoyable machine. One to try before you make your next purchase

What a bike!
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 29, 2009I've returned to motorcycling after 35 years when I sold my Honda 550 Four. Once you get rolling you tend to forget just how heavy this bike really is. I handles almost as easily as the Buell Blast that I trained on in the MSF course. When I ride my wife on the back, once we get moving, I don't ... feel much difference in the handling from when I ride alone. HD obviously put a lot of thought in the Ultra Classic. I have almost 5000 miles on it and love it. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a great touring bike. I wouldn't Compare the HD Ultra to a Gold Wing--they are two different bikes. You have to decide if you want tradional or high tech. The Harley does what it's designed to do very well indeed.
