Not the Worst, but Not a Good Buy
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 22, 2018The Harley Street 750 aka XG750 is an odd bike. It has not been reliable in my 2 and a half years and 20,000 miles on it. I've had numerous parts failures such as the rear brake completely failing, improper metric instead of imperial speedometer, stripped fender bolts, and worthless mirrors. If you ... try and work on anything yourself it is a mess of poor design decions such as a 7/8ths bar with a 1 inch throttle sleeve. I have never been able to be comfortable on the bike (5'10" 160lbs) the ergonomics are bolt upright and uncomfortable past 25 mph. The power is adequate though not all that impressive. You can ride it on the highway but it is not happy at all there. Handling at such speeds feels like you're balancing on a knife's edge, you can't comfortably cruise, nor can you go fast enough to have fun as a sporty bike. Pegs scrap quickly, and the gears are quite short. In summary I would not recommend this bike to anyone. It is neither "A real Harley" nor all that good in comparison to it's peers. 3/10 would not reccomend

Not considering purchasing again
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 31, 2017Hi all. Let me start by stating I purchased a New 2015 HD Street 750 on Sept 5 2015. In less than 2 years of ownership I have spent about 2 months in the Dealer Repair Shop. Twice for an Oil Leak out of the Rear Cylinder Cover. Dripping onto the Belt Guard. Within 1800 Miles of each repair. Have ... had issues with the Battery. 3 different Charger/Tenders randomly Abort Charge due to a "Bad Battery". Which always seems to test good. Even outside of the bike. Replaced with a Lithium. Using a Schumacher SP6 in Lithium mode, Never had a problem since. Now has been in the shop with a N Light flashing. And a chatter downshifting into 3rd gear. Minimum 2 weeks each time I drop off for repairs. Usually due to Parts not available. Only have 10k Miles on the bike. I have had less problems with a 2010 Yamaha Majesty.

Good entry bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 29, 2016I've been riding over 52 years and have owned over 30 motorcycles, so why did I buy a entry-level bike? Well, I'm short, getting older and I'm not a strong as I used to be. I traded-in a BMW R1150RT on this Harley. The XG750 is low, light and handles well for it's intended purpose. I think it ... is geared a little too low for a 750 that has great power, but for exclusively city riding it is OK. Being a former road racer and enduro rider, I don't particularly care for the mid-mounted foot pegs. It moves your center of gravity too far forward for optimum control. My biggest gripe is the handlebar-mounted switches and mirrors. HD pins the PLASTIC switches to the handlebar so there is no adjustment for the rider's hand placement. I had to drill out the clutch-side pin to make the switch assembly comfortable and within my reach. HD really bastardized the mirror arrangement, completely different than other Harleys or so-called metric bikes. The too-short mirror stems only allow for a good view of the rider's shoulders. HD does offer longer stem mirrors, but my local dealer said one side has been discontinued. Go figure. The stems are threaded 5/16-24, different than most mirror stems out there. Then, they thread them into adapters that are right-threaded on the clutch side and left-threaded on the brake side. The only adapters for aftermarket mirrors I could find were from Kuryakyn. The next problem was the clutch lever perch. If I moved the lever up to where it was comfortable for my hand, the left mirror could not be adjusted up enough to even get a good view of my shoulder. This is true, even with the Kuryakyn adapters and (longer-stemmed) mirrors. I have read / watched other reviews that mentioned the weak front brake, but all said it was livable. I disagree. I have already purchased a set of Ferodo pads and ordered a braided stainless steel front brake hose. Hopefully, these will give me the feel and bite needed to stop a 750. No bike is perfect and good engineering is always a compromise. For Harley-Davidson to meet it's intended price point, I'm sure SOME of these shortcuts were necessary. If I was HD, though, I would never compromise on brakes. With all that said, this is a good and enjoyable bike to own. The issues and changes I write about are personal preferences. Yes, I would buy this bike again, and make the same changes.

HD Street 750
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 31, 2014I just recently bought the new HD Street 750 and I love it. I ride it to work every day with a lot of stop and go between my home and work. With the water cooled engine it does not over heat like most air cooled engines and when I do get a chance to get on the open highway it has plenty of power ... to keep up with the big boys. I also find the shortened height great for me because I am so short legged.
The only complaint I have is that the mirrors are to short in height and length. I have broad shoulders and it is hard to see what is behind me in the mirrors that come stock, so I am putting extenders on which will raise them two inches and extend them out another inch.
