A Rough Diamond

How can something so beautiful, be plagued with some many problems? I've owned it now for 5 weeks and I've had it in my garage for 1. When I finally received the Slammer 2 weeks after purchase, I noticed shipping damage and missing parts. Apparently, my dealer got the bike at a very deep di...scount and company exec's. felt that my bike had to many parts for the price. They stole the 6 piston brake calipers and the passenger foot pegs after purchase. There was also some damage to the front forks and triple trees that looks as though it occurred as a result of shipping the bike from Texas. The 2007 slammer was sold as a factory demo with 900 miles on it. And it was supposed to be in "like new condition." Not only does it not look new, it also had a factory defect/ service bulletin in the gas tank which wasn't addressed in the 2 year stay at the factory. The defect was the crossover overflow in the tank which caused sputtering, and in my case, the bike to completely shut down in front of a truck. (Thank you, whoever you were, driving that truck, for not hitting me and my wife). The dealer, Wayne Hicks of Mechanicsville, Md. has been awesome! He's fought for me the whole time and is willing to cover everything at his own cost if necessary. And if it weren't that and how beautiful the bike is, I wouldn't have taken delivery. I also commend how solid the bike feels. If there were no issues with the factory, I could honestly say, this is the best motorcycle I've ever ridden. However, the damage is done and I now see why Ironhorse filled for bankruptcy in 2008 and probably will go under again. Scott, get on the ball or get out of the way.
