30 years on inline 4 now on a 690 Duke
By (I am an Owner) on May 03, 2016After riding inline four Japanese bikes I am sold on KTM. Blasting the canyons with my buddy on his KTM 500 I saw the light. I could not leave him in any tight canyon (my favorite) even on high speed roads he was always there. I am no slouch and he was an awesome rider (RIP) but still 4 against 1. ... I bought my Duke and there is no going back. It is not super fast or super smooth (engine) but, a big but. It is light, quick, handles unbelievable, breaks hard when you need it. ABS saved my ass the second day out. The clutch is other worldly and the suspension is hard the way I like it. I found myself jumping it by accident and realized it is a dirt bike in a suit. It is supposed to be a beginner to intermediate bike but after riding for 30 years its as good as you want it to be! Road with my b in law on his gsx this last weekend through my favorite tight, tight canyon. Had to stop and wait for him several times. He is no slouch! The thing is also a urban assault vehicle. Splitting traffic, quick turns, all around hooligan. Buy it, enjoy it, and don't look back. Unless you are a true believer and think anything with out 4 cylinders is not worth your time.
95% of the time you will never use you 150 mph top end. Enjoy the other other 5% and bitchen fairing you like so much.
