Youth Road Racing USA provides a professional learning environment for riders as young as five to develop the skills to race competitively. It operates at three locations, Northern California, Southern California and Phoenix, Ariz..
A product of the Youth Road Racing USA program, 13-year-old Solis broke the tracks 125cc record to edge out 16-year-old Leandro Mercado from Argentina for the win. Fellow program alumnus Austin Dehaven came back from a hard crash during the qualifying session to finish in sixth.
Solis and Dehaven were also products of the Fastrack Riders program.
Three current Youth Road Racing USA riders were also victorious last weekend at the Can-Am Mini Motorcycle Roadracing Championship. Anthony Alonso took home several trophies, winning the NSR Cup, the Formula 50, the Expert Trophy Dash and the Advanced Pocketbike race, while Justin Ducut, 13, led the pack in the 80 GP.
It just goes to show what a positive racing environment can do for talented youth, says Josiah Taulbee, president of Youth Road Racing USA. By offering a place where kids can get started so young, the potential seems endless.
