Ricky Carmichael University at Daytona

G.O.A.T. offers motocross lessons
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jan. 26, 2010
Ricky Carmichael will lead a motocross riding tutorial at Daytona International Speedway.

Scheduled for March 8, following the Daytona round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship, the program, known as the Ricky Carmichael University, will give 100 riders the chance to learn from the 15-time AMA National Champion and his team of instructors.

Each student will take part in an individual riding analysis with an instructor. The instructors will use that analysis to provide feedback on proper body positioning. Students will also go through drills Carmichael developed to hone his own skills. Drills will focus on flat turns, riding rhythm sections and improved braking techniques. Exercises will be held on the same course used by AMA Supercross riders in the Daytona round.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to put together the most important pieces of what I have learned through all my years of racing," says Carmichael. This program is really cool, and I cant wait to personally run and discuss the braking and cornering drills, which I think is one of the easiest places on the track to make up time. I will be suited and riding, and wont hesitate to run some of them myself.

Registration for Ricky Carmichael University is $444. Students must have their own motorcycles. For more information about Ricky Carmichael University, visit http://www.mxsports.com/.
