Over 300 items in Trevitt auction

Online and Daytona Bike Week auctions benefit injured journalist

The motorcycle industry has contributed over 300 items for auctions benefiting injured motojournalist Andrew Trevitt.

An online eBay auction and a silent auction March 6 at the Kawasaki display at Daytona Bike Week will raise money for Trevitt who was injured last November.

Both auctions will accept bids on a custom-made Cycle World magazine big-Twin sportbike and a custom Barry Sheene tribute 2008 GSX-R750 from Motorcycle-USA.com.

The Daytona auction will feature items including Ben Spies’ custom Alpinestars leathers from his championship-winning 2007 season, MotoGP racer Marco Melandri’s custom 2007 Spidi  race leathers, Rickey Gadson’s custom 2008 Joe Rocket drag race leathers and the custom Dainese leathers worn by Steve Rapp in the 2008 Daytona 200.

Cycle World Magazine donated this custom big-Twin.The silent auction will also feature a large assortment of autographed memorabilia from legends such as Giacomo Agostini, Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey, Randy Mamola, Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Nicky Hayden, Tommy Hayden, Roger Hayden, Matt Mladin, Scott Russell, Miguel DuHamel, Jamie Hacking, Eric Bostrom, Ryan Villopoto, Tim Ferry, Richard Childress, Jeff Burton, Casey Mears, Clint Boyer and Kevin Harvick.

Written silent bids will be accepted at the Kawasaki display from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and winning bidders will be contacted prior to the start of the Daytona 200.

The separate eBay auction will be held through March and April. Some of the items made available during Bike Week include the two custom bikes, an Angels & Airwaves “big-baby” Taylor acoustic guitar, autographed motocross gear from Ryan Dungey’s rookie season, a shirt signed by Honda’s 2009 Supercross team, a limited edition photograph of Mike Metzger’s back flip over the fountains at Caesar’s Palace autographed by the artist Adam Campbell, new Kushitani Kawasaki racing leathers and other motorcycle accessories and apparel.
