MMP hosts SBK Bike Bash

Hoobastank headlines concert
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Apr. 15, 2009
Miller Motorsports Park has announced its entertainment plans for when it hosts the World Superbike Championship, May 29-31.

The 2009 SBK Bike Bash kicks off May 28 at 5 p.m. at the Utah State Capitol with Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. greeting the WSBK riders and their teams, including Yamahas Ben Spies and Stiggy Hondas John Hopkins. Huntsman will then lead the riders in a parade from the State Capitol to the EnergySolutions Arena.

The EnergySolutions Arena will host a freestyle motocross exhibition. BMW stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer will demonstrate his skills, as will trials rider Geoff Aaron. World Superbike and Supersport championship racers will take part in a free autograph session.

Later in the evening, the band Hoobastank will take the stage. The members of the band are fans of motorcycle racing and sought out Miller Motorsports Park to ask about performing at Bike Bash. The bands drummer, Chris Hesse, is a novice-level rider, racing his Yamaha R6 in WERA competition.

Carlos Checa earned double-victory when Miller Motorsports Park hosted the WSBK series in 2008.
Last years Bike Bash, which was held at the Gallivan Center, was great but we knew we needed a bigger venue for this year, says Dan Davis, President and CEO of Miller Motorsports Park. We have a lot more entertainment this year for the fans, and having Hoobastank in concert is an unbelievable coup for us, so were expecting a lot more fans to attend. EnergySolutions Arena seemed like the natural choice for a new venue, and were looking forward to a great show.

Tickets for the SBK Bike Bash go on sale April 17 at http://www.mmptix.com/, at the EnergySolutions Arena box office or through Ticketmaster. Advanced prices are $25 but just $10 for those with race tickets. Prices jump to $35 the day of the event. Special-access VIP Ring tickets are also available for $50.
