Jeremy McGrath scholarship awarded

$20,000 will fund motorcycle technician training

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, May. 09, 2008
Tyler Sherbet, of Starr, SC, has been awarded the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Jeremy McGrath Scholarship.

MMI, a division of the Universal Technical Institute, provides technical training for students who want to become professional motorcycle technicians.

The $20,000 scholarship will support Sherbet’s education in a program of his choice at MMI campuses in Phoenix, Ariz. or Orlando, Fla.

“Programs like the MMI Jeremy McGrath Scholarship help secure the future for thousands of people who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and achieve their potential,” says Veronica Meury, director of UTI Foundation. “Not only is this announcement thrilling for Sherbet but all of us within the MMI and Universal Technical Institute family are delighted to have such a dedicated, passionate student attend our school.”

Sherbet was one of ten semi-finalists whose application DVDs were reviewed by Supercross legend Jeremy McGrath. The seven-time AMA Supercross champion conducted phone interviews with four finalists before deciding to award the scholarship to Sherbet.
