Hurricane Ike Postpones Lone Star Rally
Hurricane Ike postpones Lone Star Rally
The Lone Star Rally, an AMA National Convention and part of the AMA Premier Touring Series, will now be held Dec. 11-14.
Though the city has made great strides since Ike landed in Galveston on Sept. 13 as a Category 2 hurricane, city officials told event organizers that the downtown area would not be ready for the originally scheduled dates, Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.
The rescheduled Lone Star Rally will continue with its planned pirate theme and will feature a leather and lace ball, live concerts, poker runs, demo rides and a ghost ship tour. The event will also raise funds to support Galvestons recovery efforts. Rally organizers are asking for donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, clothing and school supplies. Donations can be made at area motorcycle dealerships.
