Garmin offers H-D branded GPS
Garmin introduced the Road Tech zumo Aug. 4 at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Based on Garmins motorcycle-specific zumo GPS device, the Road Tech version adds connectivity with Harley-Davidsons online ride planner. Garmin had previously produced the Road Tech Quest GPS for Harley-Davidson.
The Road Tech zumo helps Harley riders plan and navigate their route with ease, says Dan Bartel, Garmins vice president of worldwide sales. Packed with all of the preloaded features that zumo users have come to expect and appreciate, the Road Tech zumo anticipates the needs of Harley riders everywhere.
The weatherproof navigation system comes with a handlebar mount designed to withstand severe vibrations. The bright display screen features oversized touchscreen buttons to accommodate gloved fingers.
Bluetooth technology connects the Road Tech zumo to hands-free headsets to provide audio navigation cues. The Road Tech zumo can also connect with cell phones, allowing riders to locate nearby hotels and call ahead to make reservations.
An optional XM subscription and XM antenna allows users to listen to satellite radio and receive traffic and weather updates. Also optional are TMC traffic alerts which allow the zumo to recalculate routes to avoid bottlenecks.
The Road Tech zumo also includes several security features such as an electronic lock that protects the system with a four-digit PIN code.
The Harley-Davdison branded Road Tech zumo is available at authorized dealerships. A special Buell edition is also available.
