Eric Bostrom to Ride Kawasaki at Daytona
The four-time AMA champion will ride the new 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R in the American Superbike race as well as the ZX-6R in the Daytona 200 for the Cycle World Attack Performance race team. The March 10-12 round in Daytona, Fla., will see the AMA Road Racing debut of the new ZX-10R as well as the return of Kawasaki to the series. Kawasaki suspended its AMA Pro Racing efforts in Dec. 2009.
This new program builds on the success last year of our four-race-weekend American Superbike project, during which rider Eric Bostrom and crew chief Richard Stanboli proved that a stock motorcycle built with over-the-counter parts can be competitive at the national level, says Matthew Miles, managing editor of Cycle World. We now want to explore what it will take to make Kawasakis new ZX-10R competitive on the racetrack.
Bostrom will be joined by JD Beach in the Daytona 200. The Washington state native is an up-and-coming dirt track and road racer best known for winning the 2008 Red Bull MotoGP Rookie Cup.
We are so excited that Cycle World selected the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-6R to race at Daytona, says Chris Brull, Director of Marketing Communications for Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. Eric and JD are two of the most talented racers on the circuit, and we are looking forward to watching these guys make it happen on the track.
