Electric race bikes at AMA-VMD
Electric road-racing bikes will take to the track for the AMA eGrand Prix. The zero-emission motorcycles will run exhibition laps between AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championship races at Mid-Ohio Car Course in Lexington, Ohio during the July 24-26 Vintage Motorcycle Days.
AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is all about celebrating motorcyclings gloried past, says Rob Dingman, AMA president and chief executive officer. Yet, as the AMA celebrates its 85 years of two-wheeled history, we thought it only fitting to also offer a glimpse into what the next 85 years of motorcycling may bring. The AMA eGrand Prix Introduction showcases the sharpened point of the latest cutting-edge technology, and were excited for fans to see the future up close and personal.
The AMA eGrandPrix Introduction will feature a number of racers and motorcycles who will take part in the all-electric TTXGP, an FIM-endorsed race to be held June 12 at the Isle of Man.
San Fransisco-based Mission Motors, developer of the Mission One electric motorcycle, has been confirmed as one of the participants for the AMA eGrand Prix.
This is fantastic news and represents a great opportunity for the American public to experience zero-carbon motorcycle racing up close, says Jeremy Cleland, Mission Motors team leader. I believe this event will be the perfect first pit stop for the TTXGP roadshow as it embarks on its global journey.
