Clothing line inspired by iconic stuntman

Fashion designer Christian Audigier will unveil a new clothing line inspired by the late Evel Knievel at a trade show in Las Vegas Nev. Aug. 25.

The French designer, now based out of Los Angeles, Calif., is known for elaborately printed mens and womens wear. Audigier lists celebrities such as Madonna and Kanye West among his fans.

The Evel Knievel line features t-shirts and hoodies with images of the iconic stunt rider, including some diagrams of various bones the motorcycle daredevil had broken over his career. The images are printed using archival and cracked finish inks and flocking. Knievels classic red, white and blue colors are highlighted throughout the line.

I admire Evel Knievel because he was the original. He invented extreme sports. I grew up in France watching the excitement and suspense of his jumps. He defied skeptics, ignored fear, and pushed the limits, says Christian Audigier. He had several accidents throughout his career, but he persisted and we watched and cheered for him every step of the way.

Audigier worked closely with the Knievel estate to make sure his designs stay true to the American icons spirit and personality. Knievel died in 2007 at the age of 69 from complication due to diabetes and idiopathic pumonary fibrosis.

The Evel Knievel line will be unveiled at the When I Move You Move trade show at Caesars Palace Hotel alongside the entire family of Audigier brands which includes over 60 licensed products from jewelry to skateboards to vodka.

Caesars Palace is the ideal place to launch this brand since it was the site of his legendary jump over the fountains in 1967, says Audigier. He was the quintessential showman, unwavering in his attitude and determination.
