The AMA Daytona Sportbike class will join the previously scheduled MotoGP world championship, AMA American Superbike and AMA Supersport classes at the Monterrey, Calif. track, July 3-5. The Laguna Seca round effectively replaces the cancelled Miller Motorsports Park round which would have been held alongside the May 31 World Superbike Championship races.

We are very excited to bring the Daytona Sportbike division to the Monterey Peninsula, says Roger Edmondson, president of AMA Pro Racing. The Daytona Sportbike riders will round out the world-class talent already scheduled to participate and the intense competition will provide the fans with as thrilling an experience as you can get in motorsports.

All classes will hold practice sessions on Friday, July 3. Saturday, July 4 will begin with class qualifying and end with the Supersport race. The American Superbike, Daytona Sportbike and MotoGP championship will make up a triple header on July 5.

During the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix you will be able to watch the amazing talents of our U.S. riders Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards and Ben Bostrom.

The weekend will also have the three Hayden brothers, Nicky, Tommy and Roger, scheduled to compete.

Its kind of cool to have everyone race together and its great for my family less stressful for my parents to see us race all together and not be spread out all over the world, says Tommy Hayden, who races American Superbikes for Rockstar Makita Suzuki. So its really great for all of us and we always look forward to that race weekend.

Race fans will be given unprecedented access during the Fourth of July weekend.

A three-day general admission ticket and paddock pass will let fans enter the MotoGP pits on July 3 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to meet riders and look at team garages.

For the first time at any MotoGP event, fans can watch practice and qualifying sessions from the Rev Limiter Zone along the start/finish straight.

New for the 2009 U.S. Grand Prix, paddock pass holders will also be invited to the MotoGP winners circle during the podium ceremony to watch the traditional champagne shower.
