BMW Reports Q1 2011 Results

BMW Motorrad reported a new quarterly record for unit sales with 23,109 motorcycles sold over the first three months of 2011.

The German manufacturer sold a record 23,109 motorcycles over the first quarter, for a 10.9% increase from the 20,840 units sold in the first three months of 2010. Sales in January and February were up more than 20% from last year’s sales figures. BMW sold 11,675 motorcycles in March, accounting for more than half of the quarter’s sales.

BMW’s Husqvarna subsidiary also saw increased sales over the first quarter with 1,940 units sold (up 18.3% from the 1,640 units sold in the first quarter of 2010). While sales in January and February were higher than 2010 figures, year-on-year March sales were down 17.0%.
