BMW HP2 Sport in Club Racing Action

Riding for the San Jose BMW Racing team, Parriott beat a field of Ducati 1098 motorcycles in the American Federation of Motorcyclists event. The BMW rider jumped to an early lead and held on for the win. Parriotts top lap time of 1:42.000 was 0.352 seconds faster than his closest competitor, Matthew Green.

Its a great feeling to be achieving these results on the HP2 Sport, says Parriott. I never really see myself as the lone BMW rider; I always think that I am just another competitor, who happens to ride BMWs. That said, it feels pretty cool for me, and I bet it hurts a little to be one of those Ducati guys at the end of the day.

Not resting on his laurels, Parriott also participated in the AFMs Formula Pacific race that same day, this time competing against a field of race-replica Suzuki GSX-R1000s, Yamaha R1s and other liter-class bikes. With Parriott at the helm, the German Twin performed well against the Japanese bikes, just as it had earlier in the day against the Italians. Parriott finished the race third behind winner David Stanton and his 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1 and James Randolph who rode a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000.

It blows me away sometimes how good the HP2 Sport stops. So at Infineon the definite advantages are agility and braking. Ask anyone how to go fast around here and they will say that these two things are very important. Our only real disadvantage is the top speed, but Chris at San Jose BMW is on the case there.

Parriott will head to France next for the Bol DOr 24-hour race Sept. 12, riding for the factory BMW Motorrad Motorsport team 2, riding a HP2 Sport with Stephane Mertens and Jose Luis Nion.
