Apply now for MotoGP Rookies Cup

Selection process begins for 2009 season

Young riders with a thirst for speed have a chance to demonstrate their talent and ambition to show that that they have the potential to be world-class motorcycle racers by applying for the 2009 MotoGP Rookies Cup.

Racers born between Jan. 1 1992 and Dec. 31 1995 are eligible, though those within a year of the age limit can also apply by providing an exceptional reason why they should be accepted.

A panel of judges consisting of Harald Bartol, director of the Red Bull KTM Racing team, former Red Bull Yamaha team owner Peter Clifford and Austrian motorcycle legend Gustl Auinger, will evaluate applicants for the selection events.

The initial selection events will be held in two sessions at the Adria Raceway in Italy, Sept. 1-2 and Sept 3-4. The top participants at the Adria will qualify for the final selection round in Estoril, Portugal. All participants will ride on Metrakit PreGP 125 racing bikes.

There is no cost for applying, though selected applicants must pay for their own travel and rooming costs. They must also provide their own safety equipment.

Interested riders can apply at http://eu.redbullrookiescup.com/. All applications must be submitted before Aug. 15.
