Suzuki drew inspiration from its classic DR-Z Dakar racer and its production version the DR-Big, in updating its V-Strom 650 and 1000 models. Each available in regular and wire-spoke XT versions, the 2017 V-Strom 650s are available in dealerships now while the V-Strom 1000 models will arrive in showrooms early next year as an early 2018 model.

I like the V-Strom. I test rode the 1000 when I was shopping for my Versys 1000. However, I mean no disrespect to the V-Strom when I write this, but every time I read anything about the V-Strom 1000 I can’t help but feel like Suzuki really needs to bring back the SV 1000. It doesn’t need to compete with the super nakeds from a horse power perspective. I just want a big, torquey twin in a nice street bike platform that is not manufactured in Europe. Victory seems to be implying that they don’t want to sell that bike. Why not Suzuki?

I would like for the VTR 1000f of honda to return albeit in a more practical upright sitting position and an apealing visual.

What is the function of that duck bill which also adorns the BMW GS series?
