The faster you go, the more important slicing through the air becomes – and racers have been working on ways to improve their aero for almost as long as there’s been racing. For 2018, things seem to be reaching critical mass at the next-to-last preseason MotoGP test at Chang International Circuit in Thailand. The final test is March 1-3 in Losail, Qatar – and after that everybody’s bodywork will need to be approved before the first race there March 18.

If you’re interested in some of the myriad designs the engineers have come up with to cheat the wind, from reasonably minimal on the Hondas to Fokker triplane-ish on the Ducatis, there’s a gallery with 169 (count `em) photos here, accompanying an interesting article on NewAtlas.com.
