Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Musical Lineup
Harley-Davidson sure knows how to throw a party. For its 110th anniversary, the Motor Company has spread its celebration through the year and around the world, with events in 11 countries and six continents. Each event drew hordes of Harley faithful and countless V-Twin motorcycles together to celebrate their shared passion.
But the biggest bash will take place where it all started, in Harley-Davidson’s hometown of Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 29 to 31. Harley-Davidson has lined up more than 60 acts performing on five different stages at the Henry W. Maier Festival Park (also known as the Summerfest Grounds).
The performers cover different musical genres, from classic rock and country to alternative and hip hop. With as many as five different acts going on at any time each day, there’s sure to be live music available to suit anybody’s taste.
Familiar names like ZZ Top, the Doobie Brothers and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts are returning, having performed at Harley-Davidson’s 100th and 105th anniversary parties, while up-and-coming talents like teenaged country artist Kayla Conn provide a new voice. Rappers Common and Lupe Fiasco add a hip hop vibe while Golden Globe winner Katey Sagal will perform with the Forest Rangers, the house band from her television series “Sons of Anarchy”.
Harley Owners Group members receive an added bonus with early access to the Summerfest Grounds on Aug. 29 for exclusive performances from Lynyrd Skynyrd to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary. Doors open to the rest of the public at 5 pm CT.
Harley-Davidson has also lined up three headlining acts for Aug. 29-31. Unlike the 105th Anniversary party in 2008 where the headliners performed at a different location near the Harley-Davidson museum, the headliners will be performing at the Marcus Amphitheater on the Summerfest Grounds itself.
Kicking things off on the Aug. 29 is country star Toby Keith. With four #1 albums to his credit and 10 on the Country charts, Keith was named Billboard’s top country artist of the last decade.
On Aug. 30, the Marcus Amphitheater plays host to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-band Aerosmith. The legendary Boston band will bring its classic blues-based hard rock sound with the vocals of charismatic frontman Steven Tyler.
Finishing things off on Aug. 31 is Kid Rock and his country-rap-rock fusion style. Rock’s performances were highlights at the 100th and 105th anniversary shows, so it was no surprise he was asked to close off the 110th anniversary party.
Tickets to Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary are still available starting at $95 for three-day access to the Summerfest Grounds. For $102.50, you get extra goodies such as a photo frame, laminated ticket and lanyard, pocket guide, poker chip, guitar pick and collapsible drink Koozie. Marcus Amphitheater headliner tickets are sold separately for $24.50 each.
