Expect the official announcement to come on Nov. 7

Ducati is preparing a special edition Panigale V4 SP2 to recognize the anniversary of one of its most historically significant superbikes, the 916. The confirmation comes to us via an executive order from the California Air Resources Board that certifies a 2024 Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916.

The Ducati 916 was a landmark model, a success on the track as well as the showroom. Following its debut in 1994, the 916 SBK won Ducati 120 World Superbike race wins, 8 constructors’ titles, and 6 rider’s championships, including four with Carl Fogarty.

The CARB executive order includes the Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916 along the rest of the Ducati’s 2024 1103cc Panigale V4 lineup, which also includes the World Champion Replica models honoring Alvaro Bautista’s World Superbike and Francesco Bagnaia’s MotoGP titles last year.

Ducati previously honored the 916 with a 25th anniversary model Panigale V4 in 2019, so it’s no surprise that a 30th anniversary model would come for 2024. The 2019 Panigale V4 25° Anniversario was produced in a limited run of just 500 units. It sported forged magnesium Marchesini wheels, a titanium Akrapovič exhaust, a dry clutch, various carbon fiber and billet aluminum parts, and a special livery styled after the 1999 Ducati 996 SBK on which Fogarty won his fourth championship.

For the 30th anniversary, Ducati will be using the Panigale V4 SP2 as its base. The SP2 added a number of upgrades over the regular production models, including carbon wheels, Brembo Stylema R calipers, an MCS radial master cylinder, an STM-EVO SBK dry clutch, a lighter drive chain, and billet Rizoma footpegs. Ducati priced the SP2 at $39,500, so we can expect at least that much for the 30° Anniversario 916 version.

Based on the teaser video, we suspect the 2024 Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916 will be the subject of the sixth and final episode of the Ducati World Première 2024 series, which will be released Nov. 7.

Bad news, I was expecting a real 916 revival for the 30th anniversary, it would have been amazing to make a 916 restyling and out latest technologies inside, let's wait and see
