Great bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 06, 2019Coming from a 2015 Yamaha FJ-09, I was already a Yamaha enthusiast. I put 45k miles on the FJ, rode it all over the US, and had a blast riding twisties, and doing too many wheelies.
After selling that bike, I felt an immediate hole. I needed to get back to riding, and the MT-10 was ... something from my fantasies. Fast, upright, with R-1 engine. This bike seemed to be on a whole other level.
Right away, a few things struck me as vastly improved over the FJ.
#1: Suspension. This bike handles bumps with ease; it flows through corners, and feels very poised/ready to attack.
#2: High speed stability. I believe this is a combination of suspension and the steering dampener, but I was used to feeling like my FJ-09 would fly away in the wind at high speeds. Conversely, the MT-10 feels incredibly planted, and stable at high speeds. There's no wobbling- it feels like a magnet is sucking the bike to the road.
#3: Power. The FJ would put up wheelies in 2nd gear, this bike will do them in 3rd- even power wheelies. And highway pulls? I've never felt more confident getting away from traffic- this bike is so fast, when I first started riding, it felt like my arms were getting ripped off.
#4: Quickshifter. I'd never ridden with one before, and now I see what the fuss is about. Makes for such a smooth riding experience, and I can bang through the gears while in a wheelie. So much fun.
#5: I really like the way this bike looks; like it wants to eat children.
#6: Sound. I'm in love with the crossplane sound, and this bike is actually significantly louder than the FJ-09, even with stock pipe.
#7: Cruise control. This is kind of a cool feature to give your arms a break on the highway.
Overall, as much fun as I had on the FJ-09, this bike is just insanity. With a good set of tires, it's such a great machine. And I haven't even flashed the ECU, set suspension for my weight, or added a pipe. I can imagine it gets even better. Highly, highly recommended to me by a friend, and now I highly recommend it to you.
