A 15 year old's Best Friend

I bought a Yamaha Vino 50 for my now ex-wife as a birthday present brand-new in 2004. We split but I kept the scooter, it was 5 years old and had less than 300 miles on it. I cleaned the carb, air-ed up the tires, waxed it, new plug and battery and it ran great.



I gave it to my 15 year son, in ...Michigan you can get a special moped license at 15. In the past 2.5 years he has put 6,000 trouble-free miles on it. We drives it from early March (michigan weather) through Mid November. He loves it so much I have a beater car for him, but he never drives it. If you can buy a new Honda or Yamaha for $2,000 or a Chinese scooter for $700, buy the Japanese scooter every time. Still going strong

I just picked up this Vino with over 24,000 KM, and although the fairing/body is beat up, this thing runs great.



It's slow to pick up, but once you are moving, it keeps up to traffic well (up to 60).



Avoid bumps, and slow down over railroad tracks, you can really feel it. Option 2 is to stand..., which is easy to do.. lots of leg room.

Classic styling. Mine is black and tan. A very nice looking machine, even with a cracked plastics. Fortunately Permatex sells a Plastic weld that fixes nicely.. so new plastics are not necessary.

It's fun. I have an '08 XT250 yamaha as well, and it takes 5-10 min to warm up on cold days. This little scooter starts up and goes instantly.

Great for quick local trips, cheap on gas, cheap to insure ($170 for 6 mths), and you can park anywhere.
