2008 Schwinn Newport™ 50
Good value if you know what to doBy (I am an Owner) on Mar 16, 2012
I personally own a Schwinn Newport 50cc i have had some carb trouble with it i bought it from a dealer brand new in 2011 and it was a 2009 model i replaced the carb because it went out but it was under warrenty so it was free of charge it did take almost 3 months to get it from them though. now i ... have had no problems with it after that. i de restricted it and it goes about 50 now which is perfect for around town. now saying that it is only a GY6 engine and there are many parts for it online that you can buy and replace/ upgrade. all it takes is a little time working with it i am very pleased with it and would now recomend it to most any one.
After derestricting it the preformance is great the quality is low but the reliability now is great. the ride and comfort is okay NEED TO UPGRADE REAR SHOCK TO BE SMOOTHER. and the value that i bought mine at at liberty cycle in liberty missouri was great only 500 dollars brand new. hope this helps.

Not Reliable - Bought A Lemon - Dead ScooterBy (I am an Owner) on Jun 02, 2010
Not Reliable - Bought A Lemon
Bought a 2008 Schwinn Newport 50CC(new, not used) in hopes to have less mechanical trouble and for the prestige name. It is a DEAD lemon. Going to college, this is my only ride. This has had trouble on and off. Now I am on foot. The company this was purchased ... from went out of business so it can not be fixed locally. I was unsuccessful at finding anyone local to work on a Schwinn; Schwinn has not found anyone local to do the repairs. I don't have the funds to rent a U-HAUL to take it hundreds of miles to another dealership for repairs. For a Schwinn that does not work, the performance, quality & reliability is extra poor, and the value is extra poor.
