Wow! Power, Comfort and ABS in a non-porker SportTourer
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 25, 2012Ok, the ABS model weighs 509lbs wet. Thats 130-250lbs less that the FJRs, Connies, ST1300s that are of the sport touring class. So what do you get: 125 hp at the rear tire and 72 lb-ft of torque. This bike is capable of sub 11 second quarters and is all day comfortable. I've never been a Kawi fan, ... more of a Yamaha guy, but this bike does a lot of things right. For me I had to have ABS this time, not because I've ever had a close call, but I just rather have the technology on my side. For those anti-ABS guys, are you against disc brakes that weren't popular at one time either? Will you argue ABS takes control away from the rider? If so I'll presume your car doesn't have power brakes or steering either right? My point is tech can save your bacon. Does this bike have shortcomings? Yes: I thought it needed a touring windshield and a better seat. I am also concerned that the adjustable windshield may loosen and rattle, but we'll see. For a "light" for its class "sport tourer", that can do tack days, hang in the twisties or cross the country, this bike can do it. So far I've had zero issues with the bike. The motor, especially compared to my FZ1, is very torquey and buttery smooth. This is my 7th bike since 2001 and this one is by far the nicest.
