Amazing bike, even being 8 years old
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 27, 2016I have been racing and riding bikes ever since I can remember. I've ridden dozens of bikes in various situations, and when I first rode this CBR, I couldn't believe how fast I fell in love with it. The transmission is so incredibly smooth, and it handles to beatings I give it in traffic. I take it ... to the track occasionally, and it handles corners better than the 2015 and 2016 super sports that I had the chance to ride. Even compared to the 2015 R1, I still stand firm that the 2008 CBR1000RR has the smoothest transmission I have ever seen. I traded in my 2015 GSXR for this specific year, and I have had no regrets. I bought it used and have not had a single issue with it. The oil problem is not as extreme as some people have made it out to be, or maybe I just love my bike so much that it doesn't bother me. I ride for hours and hundreds of miles at a time, and once I upgraded my tires, I never had a problem with my bike. She's definitely a keeper.

My 2008 CBR1000rr
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 06, 2010i replaced my 2006 CBR1000rr (also a great bike) with the 2008 and was immediately smitten with its lightness, cool looks as i got one of limited all black ones, mis-range,agility, its like riding a 350 with 1000cc engine in it!
i have since ditched the rear mudguard and number plate holder ... for a tidy kit, fitted a carbon hugger, pilot race tyres, Ohlins rear shock, front ohlins R/T forks, pwr commander 5 with LV carbon tail pipe and bigger throttle bodies around 178bhp at the crank!
only issues with the bike is the paint work on the plastic tank cover it chips easy

SWEEEEEETTTT
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 23, 2009I owned the 2004 CBR 600rr, loved it but felt after a few years it was under-powered and sold it in 2007. waited till this bike came out 13,500 otd? no thanks! waited till november 2009...$8,492.78 otd!!! the only thing that sucked was not riding for two years. I owned a TL1000r by suzuki, r600 ... by yamaha, rode around on borrowed ninjas in LA all thru the 90's, and there is no doubt the honda cbr1000rr is the best of them all. and the price is amazing but will probably still fall in value fast but who cares I already saved $5k.

2008 CBR1000rr
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 24, 2009Still in break-in mode but even under 6k rpm the power is stupendous. I owned an 09 yamaha r6 and compared to this bike, I can' feel much difference in the handling. I read a bunch about this bike burning oil and i'm crossing my fingers that mine wont do the same. Couldn't resist the price I paid ... either. $7500 brand new!!!! Feel bad for those guys that paid retail or bought a 600 for more!!! lol

Good bike but..
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 21, 2009My bike is burning oil like mad, about 0.8 Liter per 1000km so I cannot take a long trip without bottle of oil. This is madness. If I knew it would come into this, I would rather buy gsxr or r1. Better fix this issue in 2009 or no one will ever buy this bike. After all this is great bike.

Best Bang For The Buck
By () on Jan 04, 2009I purchased the first 08 from a local shop and was thrilled from the start. My first 1000 weighs less that my previous 600. The thing steers better than a 600 as well! The balance of the machine is wonderful. Very very easy to change direction. The motor just rips. My only dissapointment came later ... when Honda annonunced that the RR was retarded to meet regulations. I was mad that it would cost me more money just to make it run the way it should. Thanks to Bazzaz, that is only a mere 150 dollars away from the bikes true power. I hope that this little mod is done for the 2009 comparison. I think for a $150 dollars more it will walk over the competition again in 2009.

2nd 2008 CBR1000RR
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Dec 12, 2008I bought my candy apple red and silver in July 08. I rode it about 3 mos. I put a yosh slip on on it, an undertail kit and a puig windscreen. Loved the bike. Then in october it was stolen. Having the choice to buy any other bike, I again chose the same 08 1000RR, same color and everything. ... Only difference now is the exhaust is Akropovic. Love both, best decision was when i bought the first one, backed by decision to buy the second.

Definately puts the "fun in "fun factor"
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 07, 2008Comfort, power, speed and agility! This bike has it all. I am a guy that loves to travel and tour around. My last bike was a 2002 VFR 800 interceptor and I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by looking at purchasing a CBR1000 due to the fact that I heard so many comments about how uncomfortable ... "crotch rockets" were to ride and this may conflict with my enjoyment of just getting out there and ride! I purchased the CBR1000 anyway, put on a throttle lock, GPS and some other goodies to personalize this new bike. I was amazed on how comfortable this bike was to ride when travelling around. I actually find it more comfortable then my VFR. When I say this bike has it all I really mean it. For me it has all the comfort, power, performance, handling, agility and reliablity that you will ever need on the street and quite possibly the track.
Anyways, to ride it is to love it and I absolutely love this bike!
I wanted to add more pictures but I keep getting an "object error" message when I try to upload them. Sorry!

One Very Amazing sport bike.
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 06, 2008I have been riding for years not. About 12 years now. I have rode many motorcycles and owned yamaha's and honda's. This motorcycles out performs all of them put together. I would recommend this bike for anyone. It is blazing fast and corners better than any 600 i have ever ridden. Its so easy to ... take a corner with. My other bike is a Yamaha R-6 2004. This bike out handles and out performs it with out question. You don't have to think about hitting a corner with it. just point it in a direction and it goes with out
any doupts.

2008 CBR 1000 is Awesome!!
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 02, 2008This is a great bike. I have rode many Sport bikes but have only owned two. A Yamaha R6 and a the 08 CBR 1000.
Let me start off by saying that I expected a huge difference in handling capability in the 1000 in relation to the 599cc R6 but I was totally wrong. The CBR handles even ... better and has more stability in curves than the R6 in my opinion. On top of that, the stomping midrange of the CBR allows you to accelerate out of corners much faster and with better control.
The CBR also handles high speeds much better than a 600. It picks up speed extremely fast and if you are not careful, you will break 150mph without any vibration felt in the gastank at all.
The fun factor of the CBR is awesome. Rolling in first gear at about 35 or 40 mph the front wheel will come up with the quick turn of the wrist. It is very easy to power wheelie the CBR in 1st gear.
It is an awesome bike and gets alot of attention and respect on the street!!

Experienced racer/rider tells it like it is.
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 30, 2008This bike is so good that it will make you think you just got better. Honda finally built the bike they needed to build and as soon as it came out I took it for a test ride. Granted you can't discover much about a sport bike on a test ride but I was amazed at how small and light it felt. It behaved ... much better than my Suzuki GSXR1000s (I had 2, an 02 and 03) over bumpy corners and given off/on throttle transitions. Not that I planned to, but I bought the bike that day. I've since ridden it very hard, I have 15 years roadracing experience, and have found it to be immaculately smooth and precise. The slipper clutch is fantastic. I've taken it to the Texas Hill Country, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and through San Francisco traffic, almost every mile 2 up, and other than what appears to be a voracious appetite for rear tires, having eaten the first one in 2000 miles, the bike has been flawless. Right now the bike is still bone stock. All it would take to make this bike perfect for me would be a set of bar risers, a bigger gas tank for longer range and a BikeLitez tail tuck kit to clean up the rear end. The complaints I could have about the bike if I got to nit-picking? There's no way to stick a magnetic tank bag to the plastic tank cover and I haven't been able to find a tank bag that will mount to the bike. I also think the swingarm spool mounts could be stronger but that would have added an ounce to the unsprung weight so I can't fault Honda for their choice on that one. The transmission can be made to miss a gear, especially if you get sloppy with your upshifts. The bike hets hot in traffic very fast and it doesn't like sitting in traffic at all. It will ping on 92 octane when the coolant temp gets over 210 degrees. For fuel mileage I have been averaging 38 mpg with 45 in the national parks at 45-ish MPH and 36 to 37 in the hill country where the rear tire took a lot of ...um... punishment. Bottom line? The magazines are right. This is the bike to get. Oh, and my theory on the oil burning ones is that they were switched to synthetic oil before the rings were seated. Mine is fine and I'm going to run conventional for at least the first 5000 miles. I've done this before... And if you want the "pure sex on wheels" look, the Bikelitez tail tuck and the Taylor Made exhaust make the bike look 100% motoGP. The pipe looks so good I am almost ready to give up the blissful, stealthy silence I love about this bike. Decisions... Decisions...

How can this be?!
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 27, 2008Bought my silver and black in august. An awesome bike, easy to ride fast, yet fun and exiting.
Love the looks and the feel, the best bike I've ever ridden.
But there is a problem im having of the bike burning oil. At 3500 km it is around 250ml per 1000 km.
...
Honda is sorting it out as a warranty issue, but it is a shame a company that big is so quite about a large number of new cbr's affected by this issue.
I just hope they replase or fix it well cos I dont want any other bike.
The buit quality and finish seems perfect, but the bikes burning oil which is a fundamental flaw of the engine. Therefore I give it a low score in Quality and reliablity.
