Nice well built mostly USA made bike ! YES USA made
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 25, 2018I've owned many many bikes from Yamahas in the 70s to Hondas, Suzukis, kawasaki, 7 Harleys, Victory kingpin, dirt bikes both 2 and 4 stroke....
I got my 05 VTX 1300r in 2018 with only 8300 mi. and still pretty new in condition....I live in a coastal region near Bar Harbor, Maine and love riding ... the back roads as well as highways along scenic routes, and going to white mtns in New Hampshire as well as Green mtns in Vermont and this bike gets us there nicely and 2 up....At 1st I found it to be a little challenging at traffic lights, stopping on hills, turning out onto road cause of the heavy weight of bike but after riding it enough its not an issue much anymore....Has stock seats on it that make us a little saddle soar on rides over an hours steady time riding unfortunately but this bike has plenty of options for aftermarket goodies....It has a nice smooth ride and plenty of power to keep up with the bigger bikes....All in all a very fine motorcycle thats reliable, fun, nice looking, and maintenence free....Just not sure why I'm seeing so many of the VTX models up for sale all over the place, and not for big bucks....I'm gonna keep mine and always get another if i want....Happy Motorsickling !!!!

VTX 1312 R
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 07, 2016I bought the bike used. I have owned several bikes before including a Volusia at the same time I bought this bike. I have driven several H.D.'s. I since sold the Volusia that was a lot of bike for the money.
I installed Shogun longshots exhaust which made a huge difference in sound. Also a ... lot lighter then the stock exhaust. After my first trip to Daytona bike week,I installed saddlebags, passenger backrest, custom grips and a windshield as there was a lot of wind resistance and made long rides nice. I also put an aftermarket seat on and that made a huge difference after riding for a while. Makes riding a lot more pleasant, lower seat height and back support. My butt enjoys it very much. The only thing I have replaced were tires from wear, battery and I use full synthetic oil. The VTX is made in the USA. Never had a mechanical problem and feel it will go 300,000 easy. I have a little other 10,000 miles on it. It runs on regular gas and starts right up every time. It has a lot of low end torque and power at all speeds. The motor feels stronger then all the different Harley's I have rode except a V-Rod. I ride a lot with a passenger and the additional weight of the person does not affect the performance. It gets close to 50 mpg if I don't run it hard.
It looks and performs good; but mostly it is extremely reliable.

Big Red
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 07, 2011The VTX had 1234 miles on it, hardly broken in, when I bought it from the original owner. It is the first bike I have ever owned and I may not know allot but I do know; she looks and runs great, and has ample power to haul my fat a** along, I ride it whenever I can and have put 1300 miles on her in ... six weeks. The only drawback has been that I live in N.E.Ohio and our riding season is only 6 months long.

Like My New Ride
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 25, 2010I have a 2005 VTX1300 R in Black. I have had it for 2 months and put about 2000 miles. My last bike was a 1985 Shadow 700 V-twin. The VTX is Very good in work traffic, but also great for a ride over the mountains to Topaz lake on Hwy 395. I get about 43 miles to the gallon. Honda did a good job ... with bringing out the smaller 1300, but has plenty of power to get you to your location. Keep up the Great work

2005 VTX RETRO
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 04, 2010Great bike to start with. Price was a affordable . Dependability !! What do expect, it's a Honda. Only complaint , kind of on the light side of the weight scale. Chrome is all plastic. I did sell it and moved on to a 03 Road King,
but like I said ,it is a great starter bike , great price ... , and very dependable.

The 1300 R Great fun
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 14, 2008I bought my 2005 in April of 06 and got a good deal at what is now Maxim Honda.I added several after market parts. The best addition I made was the Vance and Hines Cruizer pipes. I ride to work and as much as I can after work and on weekends. I have gotten as much as 50 mpg two up. The bike has good ... power and looks great. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a good resonable priced motorcycle.
