Rockster the Torqster?
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 27, 2010I'm 50yo and have been on two wheels since I was 17. I've had scramblers, cruisers, sports bikes and even scooters... I love anything on two wheels but decided to try something special and four days ago I purchased a used BMW Rockster. The following day I drove it back to where I live in Cape Town. ... The trip was 1430kms long and it took me 14 hours to complete. 6 short stops to fill up and one of these stops was 1,5 hours for lunch and a "power nap" of 30 mins. The rest was cruising at 140 to 170 km/h. What an amazing trip this turned out to be, I had rain and bad weather for the first 350kms, overcast and cold for the next 650 and the last 430 under beautiful sunny skies. This bike is definitely the right weapon for such a challenge. It does the job effortlessly and without fuss, it handles beautifully and loves the twisties. It is an absolute BEAST when it comes to torque and if you don't need to go faster than 215km/ than this bike deserves serious consideration.
Mine has 45.000kms and the catalizer has been replaced by a Y piece that connects straight into the standard can.
Don't know what else has been added or removed but works great as is.
It has a tall screen, hand guards, panniers and a standard seat. As far as I'm concerned, this baby is perfect and I think I'm in love...

Excellent Bike - First Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 05, 2008Well, I'm 50+ and wanted a good all around bike. I thought the Rockster would be "too young" and too much bike for me, but as it turned out it is a perfect and classic ride. I added a windshield and removed the 4 bright green stripes on the rear (with a hair dryer) and it toned it down just enough. ... It is a good all-round bike and very responsive. Will be great with hard bags for a long trip I am planning. I consider myself a new rider, nonetheless the R1150R Rockster is a great bike once you learn to respect what it can do and appreciate its versatility. It flies off the line and comfortable on long day-trips.

Couldn't Ask For More...
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 21, 2008I absoulutely love it. It's a comfortable bike that's almost a do everything bike. It handles GREAT! Actually, better than my Kawasaki GPZ1100. It's smooth, and reliable...basically a maintenance free bike; esp. with the driveshaft and all. Growing up on 'sport bikes', I could stand for a little more ... power; but, it has loads of torque and actually runs really well. And the newer 1200 has the extra power that I desire, anyhow. I have the hard 'saddle bags' and they are sooo handy. I won't even take 'em off. And if I needed to; they go on and off so quickly and easily. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a bike. You won't be disappointed.
