Great Scooter but needs some upgrades.
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 11, 2015I've owned an 09 SC Cube for 2 years. Has 21k miles & I just came back from a 1200 mile road trip, part of it through mountain terrain. It performed like a champ, but it wasn't always so. I upgraded several things to get the bike where I want it. I dealt with the clutch. At low mph there is a hesitation ... in the throttle which drove me crazy, especially on curves because it would coast & then catch, dangerous, but typical for this Vespa 250 engine. An upgrade to a Dr. Pulley clutch & heavier sliders made the throttle smooth all the way up and down & increased acceleration. I also have a tall Givi windscreen and GPS mount, a 40L trunk with rack, and gel pads for the seat. Spray Plexus on screen to keep stuff from sticking. For a short legged 2nd rider the rear foot pegs are too far away, so I made a clip-on extender that helps. Lowered the rear exhaust to keep it from melting saddle bags. Storage is good. Acceleration great. Gets to a true 80mph but takes a little while from 70-80. Merging on freeway is NO PROBLEM. Speedo is 14% optimistic, so you have to get used to 75 being a true 65mph. Also added an HID headlamp kit & drink holder onto the glove box face. Upgraded the air filter. Run Amsoil synthetic. Only 2 problems remain. To fill the tank you have to lift the seat. On solo trips where you have a bag on the rear seat & saddle bags this is a pain. The other is that the rear suspension is weak. AF-1 said an upgrade to Malossi shocks will be a huge improvement with 2-up riding. A real solid machine to start made fantastic with upgrades. MPG is 68-70. My ratings are with the upgrades.

A very good scooter
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 03, 2013I bought a 2009 SportCity 250 in Dec. 2012. It was brand new. It had been sitting in a warehouse and had zero miles/km on it. It's a great scooter.
My only complaint is the speedometer/odometer. They are primarily calibrated in kilometers/km per hour. The odometer can not be reprogrammed ... to miles. The mph scale on the speedometer is light gray and very difficult to read. I've learned how to mentally convert mph to km/hr and vice versa while riding.

DOES NOT RUN ON REGULAR GAS
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 02, 2013I own the 2009, and the manual says it requires 91 octane or above, which can be adjusted according to your climate and riding needs. The gas station rating is a minimum rating they use, so the actual gas is usually slightly higher than indicated. I usually buy 89 octane, but 93 or premium is better ... for this vehicle.

If you can find one.... BUY IT!
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 24, 2012After 40 years of big-bikes, with my last 3 being Harleys, I found a zero-miles 2009 Sportcity that was located 250 miles away. It was worth the drive. The SC250 is a great scooter. I've been getting 70-75 mpg with city driving. I inadvertently found myself on a highway one day. At over 70 mph, I ... had no problem keeping up with traffic. At 326 pounds, this scooter isn't made for the highway, but you can do it if necessary. I'd recommend this SC250 to anyone wanting a quality ride.

I LOVE it!
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 17, 2011I looked at several scooters, and compared this bike to the Piaggio BV 250. When I took the Sport City out with my girlfriend on it, after the first turn she said "Buy it."
I LOVE this Scooter. It is FAST. It is not a cruiser, but a performance scooter. I love it, I love it, I LOVE it!

Excellent, Amazing Scooter!
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 14, 2010As the model name suggests, he Aprilia Sportcity 250 is sporty and it is a thrill to ride. It tops out around 90 mph while getting close to 65 mpg with a 215 lbs rider in the city. While riding in the city, there are two things that make this bike a must: the dual front disk brakes and the quick ... acceleration of the Piaggio motor. The scooter is easily able to leave cars behind at the stop light and the brakes make it easy to stop when that person cuts you off and stops. Could I imagine another bike for my Seattle commute? I think not!
