Diadora City Boot
I've been in the market for a new pair of boots for a while now, but the thought of sifting through all the brands and styles caused me to put off my decision until my comfortable and well-worn oldies were just too old. Oh sure, there are a lot of cool looking boots out there, but how do you decide which one's are right for you?
At a retail price of $147.95, the Diadora City boot represents a very interesting compromise in motorcycle boots.
If you can get over the sticker shock of many of the offerings, you'll find that some appear great for getting you from point A to point B, but you'll have to lug another pair to wear once you get to your destination. What may be perfect for that weekly dash through the canyons may not cut it as a daily commuter. Let's also not forget about those serious tours you're planning to take this year, the different climates you'll be riding through - and what if your adventures take you off-road? Let's face it, there is no one boot that does it all, so the first thing you had better do is make an honest assessment of the type of riding you'll be doing most.
In my case, I was looking for a boot that would provide solid protection for commuting a couple of days a week and are comfortable enough not to require a change of shoe once I got to the office. My tours are generally limited to short weekend hops, and while my riding style may lean to the more aggressive side of the scale, it's still more sport-touring than sport.
The City boots are very well constructed and made from high quality materials. The uppers are soft full-grain scratch resistant leather while the outsole consists of a double-density non-skid sole. The thick sole definitely adds to the comfort factor when you finally reach your destination. Additional protection includes a shock absorbing midsole and a gearshift pad across the toe. It would have been great to compare Diadora's City boot to one of their "taller" entries, but perhaps that will be done in the future. For now, I can only say that this is a terrific boot if it fits your riding style. It seems to fit mine.
