From Yamaha:

Cypress CA, October 14th, 2006…..Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to announce its return to the premier class of the American Motorcyclist Association’s national road racing series beginning with the opening round of the 2007 season in March at Daytona International Speedway.

Piloting the all-new YZF-R1 superbikes will be veteran pilot Eric Bostrom and young upstart Jason DiSalvo. “The new R1 has tremendous potential from an adjustability standpoint featuring both a chip controlled electronic throttle and chip controlled variable intake funnels” Said Yamaha racing Division Manager Keith McCarty. “Plus the new engine and chassis both received a little M1 technology as well and we’re confident we’ve now got an outstanding platform to go superbike racing.”

Yamaha is also pleased to announce that 16 year old phenomenon Josh Herrin will also step up to a full season competing in the Supersport class Championship winning YZF-R6.

Finally, joining the team competing in the Superstock class also on the new R1 is the other half of the venerable “Boz Bros” clan, Ben Bostrom. Said Keith McCarty, “I’m convinced we now have the best combination of experience and youth that will bring a whole new level of excitement to Yamaha road racing fans throughout the U.S.”
