Supermoto and Champ Cars to Share Venue.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (May 31, 2006) -- AMA Pro Racing announced today thatan additional round of the 2006 AMA Supermoto Championship presented byParts Unlimited has been added to the schedule. The event will be heldat Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America on Sept. 22--24 in conjunctionwith the Champ Car Grand Prix of Road America. The Rotax Karting Serieswill also be featured on the same race weekend.

Additional details will be revealed today at a press conference to beheld at Road America in advance of this weekend’s combined AMA SuperbikeChampionship and AMA Supermoto Championship events.

“We’re thrilled to add this event to the AMA Supermoto Championshipcalendar,” said Joel Grover, AMA Director of Supermoto. “We’ve beenworking on this event for quite a while now and are happy that is hascome together. We’re looking forward to showcasing AMA Supermotocompetition to fans of Champ Car.”

Grover feels the added exposure will be beneficial to the sport. “AMASupermoto is still relatively young and any opportunity to expand ourfan base is welcome. The Champ Car race at Road America is a highprofile event so it will certainly benefit our series. Plus, AMASupermoto adds value to the fans in that it provides them with anadditional activity during the race weekend.”

Aprilia will be the event sponsor and the race will be called theAprilia Supermoto Shootout round of the AMA Supermoto Championshippresented by Parts Unlimited.The second Road America event will be added to the existing, eight-eventschedule. The series kicked off on April 29 at California Speedway andis set to conclude at the Nov. 4 series finale at the historic QueenMary in Long Beach, Calif.

Multi-time AMA Motocross and AMA Supercross champion Doug Henry holdsthe early season AMA Supermoto class points lead riding for GravesMotorsports Yamaha. The Hot Wheels Supermoto Lites class lead is held byCassidy Anderson while Ben Carlson enjoys the 70/30 Racing SupermotoUnlimited class lead.
