Both Motorcycle Performance and American Road & Racing, tabloid-sized print magazines, closed up shop in 2000. MotorcycleWorld.com and MotoWorld.com made a move to bolster their respective online businesses by merging. In October, the heavily-backed online magazine/retailer cycleshark went the way of "Jaws" at the hands of Roy Scheider.
So what's up with that? Perhaps people are too busy riding to be sitting around reading about riding? Maybe the magazines aren't giving the people what they want. Or maybe they are -- MO is consistently logging over a million unique visits per month. Perhaps you, the MO readers, harbor some theories about this.
AMA Superbike -- the de-facto rumormill for US racing -- has a great, in-depth story on this subject, specifically the demise of CycleShark.Com. Check it out and then let us know what you think...
