Mat Mladin started on pole for the Laguna round of World Superbike, teammate Aaron Yates fourth and Kawasaki's Eric Bostrom the only other AMA Superbike rider in the field... and not for long at that!

...Yates was running down the inside into turn one, crashed and took out not only EBoss, but points leader Neil Hodgson and Pier-Francesco Chili as well! Oops.
A bit past halfway, Mladin had slid out of the lead of the restarted race to third, but then Rueben Xaus crashed out of the lead, handing it to Regis Laconi, who promply crashed out of the lead too. Chili leads, Hodgson overtaking Mladin for second.
