Two MO readers win KTM Fan Pack!

We were stoked when KTM told us we could give away a couple of tickets to the MotoGP race in Austin, Texas, this weekend, the only round of the world championship in North America. So we challenged our readers to come up with three reasons why they think they deserved the prize of a weekend ticket, a Red Bull KTM shirt, backpack, hat and lanyard.

Win COTA MotoGP Tickets From KTM

We had a bunch of interesting submissions, but our favorite was from reader David Genat, who was riding from New York to Texas to be at the races. His plan, such as it was, didn’t cover a lot of details, so we liked the sheer audacity of it:

Reason 1. Tuesday 18th of April and I’m currently sitting in wicked weed brewery in NC after 1000 miles of motorcycle riding. Day 2 of 5 from New York to get to Austin for the MotoGP!!

Reason 2. I haven’t got tickets for the GP or a hotel yet. We just left NY on our bikes Monday with a dream and a terrible plan to camp and get GA tickets at the gate.

Reason 3. After blowing the engine on my 2015 BMW R-nineT and fighting with BMW on the warranty claim for 8 months, I finally got the bike back last week and I’m on the brink of trading it in for a Super Duke. If I win this comp it’s gonna tip me over the edge and i will have to go all in on the KTM. If I have the t-shirt, I’ve got to get the bike right??

Our next winner is Roger Eggler, a longtime motorcycle and racing enthusiast who hasn’t yet been able to see a contemporary Grand Prix race. The fact that he’s been a volunteer at AMA races tipped the scales in his favor.

Hello, my name is Roger Eggler, I am 65 yrs old and have been following MotoGP racing for more years than I can remember. I grew up in South Florida and most of my information in the old days came from magazine articles and the few races that were televised. I’ve never been able to attend a modern-era MotoGP event as distance and scheduling always seemed to prevent me from going.

Over the last several years I have volunteered at several AMA sanctioned events at Barber Motorsports and Road Atlanta. As a fan of motorcycle racing I feel an obligation to help by giving my time and energy to a sport that I love. I’ve been watching televised MotoGP events since the beginning of Valentino Rossi’s career. I would love to have the opportunity to see him race live and in person and maybe even get to meet him.

So, if you’re not Roger or David, we’re sorry you didn’t win KTM’s Fan Pack – look for them on the TV broadcast waving in the Turn 15 KTM grandstand. With any luck, we’ll be able to run this contest again next year!

Meanwhile, make sure you check out our MotoGP race preview written by our own Bruce Allen, and stay tuned for his report following the race.

Awesome stuff. I got hooked up by an NHRA sponsor who also has a suite on the front straight at COTA so I'm in!

Top Fuel Harley's ran at Royal Purple raceway tonight. Those dudes are nuts! But they won't have any left if that rear cylinder goes.

We need a plan for next year. MO folks should buy tickets in the KTM section. Then we can meet, drink beer, tell each other how fast we are, and be merry. Nothing exciting, just go and watch the races.
