A more comfortable Multi V4 awaits

Ducati is preparing to add a new Grand Tour variant to its Multistrada V4 lineup, joining the existing V4, V4 S, V4 Pikes Peak, and V4 Rally models. The new Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour will be part of the 2024 lineup as a successor to the previously offered Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour.

The confirmation comes to us via certification data from the California Air Resources Board which lists a new Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Touring model for 2024. The CARB executive order certified the GT variant alongside the other Multistrada V4 variants, except the Rally, which has its own executive order.

With the emissions the same as the 2023 models, this tells us that the Grand Tour’s engine and exhaust systems are unchanged from its siblings. It also confirms that the Grand Tour has the same plastic 5.3 gallon fuel tank, and not the V4 Rally’s 7.9-gallon aluminum tank.

Beyond that, however, the CARB data reveals little about the new variant. We have to turn to the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour for further clues. Introduced in the 2020 model year, the Twin-cylinder 1260 S Grand Tour added creature comforts such as additional LED lighting, a tire pressure monitoring system, heated grips, side cases, a hands-free gas cap, and an upgraded seat. The current Multistrada V4 S lacks these features, but we suspect they’ll be part of the Grand Tour package.

Ducati introduced the Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour for 2020, the final model year before the introduction of the Multistrada V4.

Ducati tends to save its new model announcements for the fall, so expect to see the official reveal for the Multistrada V4 Grand Tour around November.

MTS V4S has a 5.8 gallon tank rather than 5.3 gallons as noted in the article. Also, most V4S Multi’s come equipped with Travel & Radar which covers most of the items (and more) anticipated for the Grand Tour (side cases, heated grips, etc.) with the exception of different seat (stock one is pretty good and optional seats are already available) maybe a taller wind screen (stock one is tall enough for a 6’ rider) and the keyless gas cap, TPS and driving lights which are available as options on the MTS V4S. The MTS V4 Grand Tour seems like a rather superfluous model.
