Both have a lot of hurdles standing in their way. And together, they hope to overcome them one-by-one. Ana’s ethos is “no excuses''. While Kyra’s rationale is that “the time is now”.
Lightning Motorcycles has filed designs for an electric adventure bike. The designs, filed with China’s intellectual property office, reveal a motorcycle with the typical ADV accoutrements, and an electric motor and swingarm design that look similar to those of Lightning’s Strike sportbike.
MV Agusta is getting back in the adventure bike game with not one, but two new models to be unveiled at EICMA, November 23. Spy shots started circling around the internet recently of what was presumed to be an early prototype of the ADV, but MV has now confirmed the project with today’s press release (copied below).

What is available though, are some rad photos and video of rally racing legend, Stéphane Peterhansel ripping the T7 prototype through the Moroccan desert which once hosted the famous Dakar rally up until 2007. It’s a new year which means it’s time once again for the world’s most grueling off-road endurance race, the Dakar Rally. Celebrating its 40th edition, the 2018 Dakar Rally runs Jan. 6-20, starting in Lima, Peru, crossing into Bolivia with a rest day in La Paz, and then entering Argentina for the finish line at Cordoba.
The Honda EXP-2 is a tease of what could have been. As two-strokes have been phased out in this country due to emission requirements, many thought (and so far rightly so) that the two-stroke would be a thing of the past. At least in regards to road-going motorcycles. Honda, being the might that it is, attempted to change that. With the EXP-2, Honda was hoping to bring a competent road-legal off-roader to market that would also burn clean. Hindsight tells us the experiment didn’t quite go as planned, but the EXP-2 is still no less a technological marvel to investigate further.
