2016 Kymco Xciting 500 Ri Abs in Gold
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 29, 2017As of October 29th 2017 I've had my Xciting 500 for 4 months & 1,780 miles. I purchased my 2016 brand new in June 2017. I had an old Suzuki Burgman 400 & 650 before this bike. The Xciting has advantages like the easy pop up gas cap, the turn signals sound to remind you they are being used. The battery ... compartment is also more easily accessible. The bike is more powerful than 400s but less than 650 obviously. The bike has decent storage space but it could be better. The styling is cooler than most maxi-scooters with the black out windshield, red color brakes and black wheels. The turn signals mounted to the handlebars I don't like I rather they be attached to the bike elsewhere. As for performance - the bike may surprise you it has good starting acceleration and on the highway it will take you over 80 mph which is all you really need and I am a very big guy at almost 300 pounds. I have been commuting to work about 8 miles one way and it is a great bike for that. It is small enough to still maneuver it easily but not too small to make it weak. One of the best things about this bike is the price. At $6,000 brand new with a 2 year warranty it's a really good deal. Most of the Japanese maxi-scooters bikes are like $11,000 brand new except for the Burgman 500 which is like $8,000 so considering that I say the Xciting 500 is the best value. It is said that Kymco makes scooter engines for Honda and that says a lot. As for my individual case - I wanted to start out motorcycle riding with a scooter because I think I would be safer on them which I still think is the truth. I will probably get a more powerful regular motorcycle when the time is right but scooters are so practical that I think anyone that goes this route will not regret it. We will just probably have 2 bikes instead of just 1 :)
