Would I buy again, yeah.
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 13, 2010Bought my hyosung GV250 second hand just 4 months ago, have done 4,500 km since - half of what the previous owners did in 4 years. I'm limited to 250cc for the first 6 months of my licence.
I've had to replace the two sprockets and chain at 13,000 km, so fitted a ScottOiler at the same time ... - that should give me 60 to 70 thousand km before having to do that again. Otherwise no problems, rear tyre will have to be replaced in a couple of months but that and the chain are expected maintenance.
Very happy riding her, nice upright position, easy to steer, can cruise at up to 120 km/hr but I usually stay at 110 or less. Does drop down to 80 km/hr on steeper hills, but you'd expect that from a 250 with 95 kg on board. Great fuel economy, 30+ km/L, I've done over 400 km per tank several times.
Downside? There is a little corrosion on the chrome, on the mirror bars, the front indicator bars, and on the rear springs. If I'd had her from new I would have sealed the chrome with Auto-sol, don't know what previous owners did.
Would I buy a Hyosung GV250 if I were a learner buying their first bike again and knowing what I know now. Definitely. I'd recommend the GV250 if you wanted a cruiser learner bike or the GT250N if you wanted a street learner bike.
