I much prefer zippers over laces, especially for taller boots but I'd prefer them on the back, not the side. I've never seen zippers on the back but I'm hoping an MIT graduate might invent them someday & get rich.

About ten years ago or so, I bought a pair of Durango square toe harness boots for about $115. A few weeks later I saw very similar boots (thickness and quality of leather, construction, etc., to the point that they could have easily come from the same factory) at an HD dealership. The main difference I could see was that these had an embossed bar and shield logo. Oh yes, the other difference was that they retailed for $165!
