Team Husqvarna's entry into Bel-RayWomen's Motocross League International Motocross Championship, SwedishPro rider Elin Mann, impressed the crowd at the WML's season opener heldMay 12 and 13 at Glen Helen Raceway. In the first moto, held onSaturday, Elin was in the lead pack the entire race, and was solidly inthird place going into the final lap.

However, she misunderstood thewhite flag used in the U.S. to signify one lap remaining to mean thatthe race was over, and pulled off the track...

As Team Manager EraldoFerracci frantically signaled for her to reenter the race, Elin restartedher Husqvarna CR125 and quickly recovered to finish eighth. Determinedto redeem herself in the second moto (held on Sunday) Elin once again putin a determined performance, and secured third place by the time thecheckered flag flew. Elin's 8-3 finish earned her sixth overall inthe field of 26 accomplished female motocross athletes.

Elin's next race will be the 2001 Bel-Ray WML International MotocrossChampionship, held in conjunction with the second round of the Bel-RayWomen's Motocross League Championship Series. That race will be heldduring the Hangtown National event of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. NationalMotocross Series in Sacramento, CA on May 20.
