2005 Adelanto Grand Prix

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Feb. 08, 2005
The 25th running of the famed Adelanto Grand Prix is happening again this year on February 26 and 27th. With over 50,000 spectators and 3000 entrants its bound to be exciting. One of the last true Grand Prix events, the race starts out on the street, winds through an MX section, open desert and back, for an average loop that covers 8 miles. In the genre of the late Elsinore and Corriganville (Hopetown) Grand Prix, Adelanto has a carnival like atmosphere, with food vendors, live entertainment, and lots of aftermarket booths specializing in off-road accessories. Bring the kids.

Yours truly will be competing in the Over 40 Novice class on Saturday, and Sunday in the 1974 and under vintage class.

Dead engine starts; in true Grand Prix fashion makes me hope the mighty CR500 will light off on the 1st kick (ha, right).

The vintage class has the classic clutch hand on helmet live engine start (so the guys riding old Husqvarnas and Bultacos can compete, I guess). This class is also run with sidecars and dual sports, let go in timed intervals.

Hope to see some of you MOrons there.
