2012 Triumph Street Triple Revealed
French website Moto.Cardesiac revealed the first official photographs of the 2012 Triumph Street Triple as the British manufacturer presented the updated motorcycle in Paris.
Like its larger sibling, the Speed Triple, the Street Triple gets new angled dual headlights replacing the old round lights. The Street Triple also has less chrome than the previous model, as well as an updated instrument panel. The base Street Triple also gets the R version’s aluminum bars.
The Street Triple will be offered in metallic white, black and a new purple color, while the R version will come in red, white or black with gold wheels.
Otherwise, the 2012 Street Triple remains mechanically identical to the 2011 version, with a 675cc Triple engine claiming 105hp at 11,700rpm and 50 ft-lb. at 9200rpm. The Street Triple’s suspension is provided by a 41mm upside down fork and rear monoshock from Kayaba, while the R version gets adjustable preload, rebound and compression damping. Nissin supplies the Street Triple’s twin 308mm floating discs and two-piston sliding caliper forward and single 220mm single piston rear brakes, while the R version gets four-piston radial-mount calipers up front.
U.S. pricing and availability has not been announced, though in the U.K., the 2012 models keep the same prices as the 2011 models with the Triumph Street Triple costing 6,649 pounds (US$10,650) and the Street Triple R priced at 7,349 pounds(US$11,772). We will have to wait to see if Triumph North America decides to keep the 2011 pricing of $8,899 for the Street Triple and $9,599 for the Street Triple R.
