Buelliful
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 31, 2011I have recently purchased an 08 Buell.
MOTOR ;It is fantastic . Whilst it doesn't like it under 3,000 rpm and between that and 4,000 rpm it surges, beyond that it has power on tap in an instant.Let's get things in perspective .It was never designed to be a commuter, and in a strange way the ... surging kind of adds to make up it's character of which the Buell has in abundance. It does vibrate , but in a manner that is informative.I started to identify the speed in relation to the vibration which I found useful when I was riding through the turns. Your 'feeling' what the bike is doing rather than having to glance at the dash continually
Handling; It did not take me long to aclimatize to how the Buell likes to take corners.I'd say because of the 21 degree rake, it is harder to steer into the corner, and rather to brake upright and then throw it in with the power coming on nice and early. The handling is very precice and stable with alot of feedback. It will be a very hard bike to shake off in the twistes .
To summarize ; sublime!
Quality and reliability; I have found the mirrors fold back gradually over time at speed.I was expecting more viration from the mirrors ,but at below 7000rpm visability was ok.The bike does have a plasticky look mainly because the 'tank'is in fact plastic .The seat seems a bit flimsy and the fairing frame ,whilst attractive and modern, does look as if it is some cheap assemble yourself after part. In all it comes together to give an agressive appearance that one will not forget. Beautiful it ain't,but it looks as if it means business. The function over form statement do give the Buell a midas touch, side pods and all.
I'm not in a position to comment on reliability as yet.
Comfort. The bike is suprisingly comfortable for a 6' frame. The hand and legs are not cramped and everything falls into place well. The 'sharpness' and size of the switches feel different but in no way out of place. The seat is shaped nicely and I found after 100 + kilometers no real unpleasantness. With riding leathers , at best, there wasonly the slightest of a twinge that is in reality nit picking.
I picked mine up for a $10K with only 4300Kms on it. I doubt that there is anything that will perform as the Buell does for the same price. It performs and handles as good as the best of them on the street. It oozes personality ,and will suprise many if given the chance.

What a shame!
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 22, 2009It really is a shame that Erik decided to halt production on Buells, especially when he got it so right with the 1125R. Correcting all it's shortcomings from the '08s Erik really set out to make a true American sportbike different than anything anybody is used to. With the styling the only thing ... that takes getting used to this bike is a true dream. Acceleration, handling, sense of one with the bike it's got it all.

Rider review
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 11, 2008The Buell 1125R is a fantastic bike that accelerates like a beast when you want to get on it. The seat is a bit rough but its great for short rides that are less than 75 miles. Personally, I think this is a much better ride than any other sport bike out there. Its handling is far beyond any other ... sports bike that I have been on.
