10 years and 25,000 miles
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 17, 2018Have rode this bike all over North America including Alaska on and off road with almost no issues. Has always performed as expected. Added some mods such as guards, center stand, windscreen, throttle control, barkbusters, H&B bags etc. to make a good bike even better. Only on the second chain and ... sprocket. Would easily recommend to anyone for on or off road riding. It does set a little high, so short guys made need to choose something else. Look forward to riding it another 10 years.

Best overall touring bike
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 15, 2009Hello, Am a happy owner of the BMW F 650 GS DAKAR 2007, I love touring without limits. My bike has 50000 km. Done on and off roads, traveling around Mexico, my country, and Central America towards Panama. Never had a problem, Very reliable engine, for sure is not an off road bike, but when traveling ... for 1000 km a day in all kind of weather conditions, on sand, mud, pave roads, this one will take to you to your destiny safed and at good speed. Perfect power, more is not needed, specialy on long trips and hard conditions. Fully loaded with traveling gear about 100 kg plus driver, in the Real Curves at Oaxaca Mexico Mountains, She is the Queen, very stable, ready for any surprise on the roads like cows, dogs, holes on the road, mud avalanches, brakes stop you at any moment. It is a pity that BMW is lowering the quality, even that they say they follow strict manufacturing control, when you compare the metal parts, it is clear they are made in China, specially if you live on the Ocean side where everything gets oxydize very quick. Thank you for having this space of information, it is very usefull.
