Last month, we reported that Zero was revamping its lineup, updating the S, DS, and DSR models with the newer FST platform used by its higher performance models like the SR range and DSR/X adventure model. Our initial report was based on a document Zero submitted to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration showing updated gross vehicle weight ratings for the models that were using the older SDS platform.

Zero Motorcycles is preparing updates to the S, SR, DS, and DSR models for 2024, with evidence suggesting an end to its SDS platform in favor of the FST steel trellis chassis used on its higher-end models.

Has it really been 20 years since the world didn’t seize up at the stroke of midnight, as we feared it might? Yes. Every time I walk out into the garage, my 2000 R1 sitting dormant on its stand (the last year of the first-gen R1) reminds me of what a long time ago that was. Next to all the new bikes it sees come and go, the old girl is positively archaic. In a good, Ann-Margret way, but still. While we’re still quarantining seems like a good time to look back upon what bikes have moved the game forward the most since the millennium.

This week’s video is yet another take on the motorcycle versus car race, but with one catch: neither competitor is old enough to go to school yet. Introducing the motorcycle-riding Tima Kuleshov (2 years old at the time of filming last fall) and kart driver Makar Zheleznyak (4 years old).
