The R 12 cruiser has a steel tank in the blockier “toaster tank” design reminiscent of ’70s-era /5 models, and the side covers are unbadged. The R 12 comes standard with a solo seat and a rear fender. The seating position is more relaxed, with wider handlebars than the R 12 nineT.

Smaller, faster, more complex

Earlier this year, BMW announced it would release a successor to the NineT dubbed the “R 12 NineT”. Like the original NineT series, we expected BMW to release a number of variants, and now, we have the first photo of a new cruiser variant that will simply be called the “R 12”.

BMW has officially announced the R 1300 GS, introducing a new Boxer engine, updated suspension, radar-based safety systems and a 26-pound weight reduction compared to the R 1250 GS. Arriving in U.S. dealerships in early 2024, the BMW R 1300 GS will carry a price tag of $18,895 plus destination fees.

BMW will be revealing its 2024 R 1300 GS next week, but photos of the new adventure bike have leaked online, revealing its styling and other details.

Munich – Alexander Buckan will succeed Edgar Heinrich as the new head of BMW Motorrad Design, commencing on 1 January 2024. Buckan will oversee the design of all BMW Group two-wheeled vehicles, rider's equipment, and accessories. Edgar Heinrich, who has led BMW Motorrad’s Design division since 2012, is retiring after a 35-year tenure at the BMW Group.

As expected, BMW announced a new middleweight adventure lineup for 2024 with the new F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure, and F 800 GS, replacing the previous F 850 and F 750 models. While all three models receive updates including a larger displacement engine, the F 900 GS in particular received additional attention with the goal of making it a sportier model better optimized for off-road riding.

BMW has dropped teasers across its social media channels for what looks to be a new 2024 F 900 GS. The new model will be revealed on Sept. 7, likely alongside a new F 800 GS, and possibly an F 900 GS Adventure.

Earlier this summer, BMW confirmed a new R 1300 GS model was on its way, with an official world premiere scheduled for Sept. 28. While that’s more than a month away, we now have a good idea of how much it will cost, thanks to an overzealous update on BMW’s official website.
