Mini Adventure Bike

I've owned an '08 XT250 since new, and live in the central Colorado Rockies. I bought the bike primarily to teach my twin sons (then 12) to ride both trail and street. They graduated pretty quickly into full on MX bikes, so I then used it as a camping and commuter bike (I also own a KX450 and Triu...mph Street Triple R) During a lengthy divorce, the bike was stored for nearly 4 years, and I only recently puled it out and re-registered it. I should have done it long ago. It is a nimble, incredibly easy bike to ride...just a blast every minute I am on it. The turning radius is ridiculous, the suspension plenty adequate for street and jeep roads (I'm 5' 10" 185lbs.)and power...Well; you're not going to win any races on the XT, but the little 250 thumper generates adequate torque for most on and off pavement situations. Mine has been rock-solid reliable, and is a breeze to work on. I call it my mini adventure bike, because it facilitates just that. I can string together trails, forest service, jeep roads and pavement and create all kinds of day-long rides under 200 miles that are just a blast. I have often thought about selling it, because I just seem to acquire more bikes as I get older, but I think I am going to keep the XT for a very long time simply because of how fun it is, and the experiences that are possible on it.
