Great value and reliability
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 24, 2020When I started riding in the 70's. A 650 was a big bike. Everyone started on a 100-250. I still don't consider a 650 as a starter bike. After a 30 year lay off. I decided to start writing again. I was a little leery of a 650 being too much, but did have experience so I went with this V-Star. I'm ... glad I did. It's a reliable fun bike. I still wouldn't recommend it as a first bike due to size and weight. I'm 6'1" so getting used to the position took a bit. It's not nearly as cramped as my old Sportster.

My First Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 18, 2013This is my first bike I owned. When I first got on it I knew it was the one. Very comfortable! Perfect bike to learn on. I was told it was to big of a bike to learn on but its perfect! Love the chrome and black. I have had many compliments on this bike. Its one I will ride for years to come.

Yamaha V Star Classic
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 10, 2012I purchased my bike used five years ago for a great value. This was my first motorcycle, and for just starting out the 650 was more than enough. However as I have gained more experience I can help looking over the fence at bigger engines. But to be honest my bike is more than capable at getting me ... and the old lady around. (though she does complain a bit about the passenger seat) With regular maintenance I have been able to keep her going. However last year I have encountered an issue getting the bike to start, poking around on a few forums I think I have established the problem as a coil issue.

Don't sell the 650 short
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 07, 2010I purchased a 650 classic last year with my tax returns. I bought it used and had the intentions of this being a "temporary" fix untill I could afford an 1100 or 1600. I've owned other bikes before this one and I have to say this is by far my favorite bike I've ever owned. I bought it for 4k and ... have put about 3k into it. I get looks everywhere I go. Almost every other day someone will comment on the bike, whether at a stop light or at a store. I love this bike and do not intend to set rid of it. I am a Star fan for life now. I have that great "classic" look without the painfull sticker shock. Ps...It's not just for beginners either..

yamaha 650 vstar
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 31, 2008Awesome machine,It is my first street bike after riding dirt bikes for years.I have 48000 km on the bike and just had my first mechanical falure. The rear coupler went on the drive shaft but I was up and riding again thanks to Claires Cycle and Sports. The only negative thing I could say about the ... bike is that when driving 120 km/h the engine or tranny screams for another gear(6).I,m looking forward to buying a 950 vstar in 2010.Thanks Enjoy Bman

Classic, Solid Performer
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 16, 2008Dependable, solid & proven cruiser, the V Star Classic has enough power for tall hills, tough headwinds and two-up riding all day. Performance is a close second to the top rated comfort and handling, which makes it a great choice for long distance cruising. This is one machine you can put extended ... miles on and still feel like hitting the road the next day. A broad range of aftermarket offerings has helped keep pace with everything from throttle controls to spin-on oil filters. Excellent sales value helps keep this choice at the top of the list for those looking to move up in experience without straining budgets. A "classic" in the true sense of the marque.
